“Our appearance is our first opportunity to make a good impression. If you are self-conscious about your acne, warts or toe fungus, I can help. I also treat chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. I want to help you feel comfortable in the skin you’re in”.
–Dr. Bella Zimilevich, MD
About skin conditions
Apart from cosmetic concerns, skin conditions can be itchy, uncomfortable and sometimes painful. They may also be associated with, or a sign of, another condition (i.e. psoriatic arthritis). The skin is our largest organ, yet it is the one we tend to ignore and take for granted until it causes us problems!
How I can help
If you have a troubling skin rash, eczema, acne or other skin condition, I can help. From diagnosis to treatment, I’ve got you covered. Embarrassed by acne? Feeling as though you must wear long sleeved shirts to cover the annoying and persistent rash on your arms? Dislike shaking hands due to severe eczema? You’ve come to the right place! I understand that skin conditions affect how you feel about yourself and even how you interact with others, and I want you to like what you see when you look in the mirror.
What you can expect
When you come in to see me about your skin condition, I will ask about your health history, including any family history of skin conditions. I will ask about any medications you are taking. I will also want to know what you have used in the past to treat your condition, whether prescription or over-the-counter. I will then examine the affected skin.
Mill Basin Medical is a full service medical center, which means that I can order tests if necessary. For example, if I suspect that your skin condition is caused by an autoimmune problem, I can order blood tests to help me make my diagnosis. Many people think that they need to see a dermatologist for their skin condition, but this is rarely the case. As an internal medicine physician, I am equipped to handle most skin conditions; however, if it becomes necessary I can also refer you to a dermatologist if your condition is one requiring specialized care.
Types of skin conditions I treat
I see patients with the following conditions:
- rashes
- acne
- psoriasis
- eczema
- allergic reactions
- bacterial skin infections
- warts
- skin tag removal
- toe fungus treatment
- nail infections
- rosacea
- cellulitis
These are some of the more common conditions I see. There are many more- chances are that I’ve seen and treated your particular skin issue, so there’s no reason to feel embarrassed or shy about your skin problem. Curing your condition starts with making an appointment. What are you waiting for? Make an appointment today- your skin will thank you!
